If you’re attending Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore next month, you are probably excited about the fresh new products, the opportunity to negotiate deals and just doing some good, face to face, business.
Natural Products Expo East is also the primary annual gathering place for us all to connect and attend educational forums and honor the leaders in our community. Your Organic Trade Association (OTA) has set up a series of events to make this Expo East a truly engaging experience.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, you can attend HACCP for the Organic Professional. This two day, hands-on course will provide instruction on the seven principles of HACCP and how they relate to prerequisite and organic certification programs. You can learn how to write HACCP Plans and implement HACCP in organic food environments.
The OTA Board Meeting is on Wednesday, September 25t, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., at the Baltimore Convention Center, Room 303. The public is welcome to sit in on the board’s deliberations and decisions.
If you’re a member, you should attend the OTA Annual Meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. You’ll be able to network, experience the exhibits and meet OTA’s Board of Directors. If you’re not a member, here’s how you can become one.
The OTA Annual Awards Celebration will be held immediately after the annual meeting, Wednesday, September 25, 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. This is the place to celebrate with your colleagues and honor organic achievements. The 2013 Organic Leadership Awards will be presented to a powerhouse couple who have dedicated their lives to organic for almost three decades, a professional farmer who is passionate about growing organic tree fruit and two emerging leaders on a mission to create meaningful opportunities for military veterans in organic. Then the Natural Products Expo East Trade Show Floor is Open! Get ready to sell, purchase and sample all the wonderful products out there! The show floor is open Thursday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. As you work the floor and graze, be mindful of your food combining.
Don’t miss the Organic PAC Donor Reception on Thursday, September 26, 5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., at the Baltimore Orioles Stadium, Camden Yards! The Organic Trade Association Political Action Committee (Organic PAC) is hosting a donor reception at Camden Yards while the Orioles take on the Bluejays at home. Come early and enjoy food, drinks and networking with special guests in the Organic PAC VIP box! Space is limited, so reserve your ticket soon.
There is an All Things Organic Conference Track on Thursday and Friday at the Baltimore Convention Center that will deliver a one-of-a-kind conference program with critical information on the issues that impact your organic business. OTA has set up a Foreign Buyers’ Mission Meetings, Thursday through Sunday where U.S. organic food and ingredient companies will have the opportunity to meet pre-qualified buyers from established and emerging international markets. The Organic Trade Association’s (OTA) Reverse Trade Mission, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, enables U.S. organic companies to discuss their products, make on-the-spot sales and pave the way for productive long-term relationships with international buyers.
