Get on the phone and make a difference!

I'm supporting YES on I-522If you believe that Washington State I-522 is important and a must win, it’s time to put your mouth where your heart is. Washington State “Yes on 522” needs your help in the next few weeks! Organizers are looking for volunteers to make phone calls and combat the misinformation campaign fueled by corporate dollars from agribusinesses. The labeling ballots come out on the 18th and the stakes are high. We need this win for the awareness of our cause across the country.

Even if you don’t live in Washington State, you can help. The Yes on 522 has set up training that makes it simple to get started. There are four easy steps that make calling from home easy:

1)      Participate in the “CallFire” Demo. This will give you a feel for using their calling system just like any other phone bank.

2)      Familiarize yourself with the script. The script will be on the “CallFire” screen, but you may wish to have a printed version as well.

3)      Review common questions and responses. The FAQs and talking points will make you an expert on the issue.

4)      Start making those phone calls!

Here’s a line from the script that gives you a sense of what a typical call might be like: “We are the campaign working to ensure that genetically engineered foods are labeled in the state of Washington. Let’s vote for the right to know what’s in our food. Yes on 522.”

Make that call for the fishing industry, the apple growers and the farmers who harvest wheat. Do it for the farm workers, the environment and most importantly for the right all consumers have to transparent labeling. Your call is the first step.

  1. Thanks, Melody. A bunch of us (LabelGMOs.org & PAN) in California will be hitting the phones together this weekend, including hosting some phonebanking potlucks, in efforts to reach thousands of voters before they start casting ballots on Monday. Feel free to join us…contact me for more on how to participate: ptowers@panna.org.

  2. I am really enjoying the theme/design of your website.
Do you ever run into any internet browser
compatibility problems? A small number of my blog readers have
complained about my website not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome.

Do you have any solutions to help fix this issue?
