As a young twenty-year-old bud, I went to the Tuamotus to live with a family. This string of 80 islands & atolls in French Polynesia was so beautiful it literally blew my bikini socks off.
Surrounded by satin-white sand and the bluest of waters, I felt doughy and pudgy straight out of Iowa. Looking back at those pictures today, I see one hell-of-a gorgeous babe in paradise.
Only in my 30s did I realize if I was going to be anyone of consequence, I mustn’t focus on some barbie-doll beauty façade. The day that happened, I felt gloriously exquisite. I found my inner goddess of beauty, just being me.
It does take practice to feel your splendiferousness every day. Here are a few tips to I use to help my natural beauty shine.
The Essence of Beauty Begins with Nourishment

What you put in your body, you become. If you eat junk, you become junk, with pimples, big bottoms, and hallowed eyes. If you feast on organic fruits, veggies, and whole grains, you will thrive. If you immerse yourself in omegas and fats, your complexion will shine. Your fingernails and hair will grow long and lustrous.
Drink water like your life depends on it! Water boosts your energy and delivers nutrients to cells and muscles, detoxifying, cleansing, and hydrating your entire body. You even shed a few pounds if you drink deep and from the well.
If you are looking for an extra boost, consider taking a beauty supplement. Supplements that contain collagen or biotin can help to improve the appearance of your skin, hair, and nails.
Make-up Yourself with the Right Stuff
As a teenager, my father led me to believe I’d end up in that cinder-block bar if I wore blue eye shadow. Well, I did it anyway and only visited that windowless bar in my dreams.
I learned to lavish my lips with gloss from my sister. My mother showed me the finest moisturizers to keep my skin wrinkle-free.
Looking back, I don’t think anyone took the time to consider what was in those products. Today we have organic and natural products galore.
There are many benefits to using natural beauty products, including that they are suitable for your skin and overall health.
Organic ingredients are gentle on the skin and can help to improve your complexion over time. Since organic body products do not harbor harsh chemicals, they’re less likely to cause irritation or inflammation.
If you have any specific skin concerns, such as acne or wrinkles, look for natural products that contain ingredients like retinol or hyaluronic acid. These ingredients can help to improve the appearance of your skin over time. Be aware of ingredients used in many shampoos and cleansers. If you have sensitive skin, look for products that are sulfate-free, especially when choosing hair detangling shampoos and conditioners.
Remember, everyone’s skin is different, so what works for someone else may not work for you.
Your Loveliness Will Emanate By Living Your Joy

When I am doing the things that make me giggle or curious or fill me with joy, I feel beautiful. Like a current of electric zest is pouring out of my eyes, filling my entire body with endorphins.
It’s radical self-love that teaches me I am beautiful. What I wear on my body and face is my unique expression of how I present myself to the world– it’s okay.
There’s Nobody Like You
I let my hair turn its beautiful shade of gray, and I cut it myself. Sometimes I wear a Turkish scarf and bright red lipstick. I don’t care if I fit any standards or molds.
The more you swagger and strut with a bold sense of self, the more you’ll feel ravishing, and people will be ravished. They’ll want to know your secret. Tell them, “Beauty begins when you decide to be your gorgeous, exquisite self.”
We’re going to need more beauty in the years ahead. Be beautiful for the world.
