Thank you for visiting the Organic Matters Blog and Source Organic, resources for the organic business community.
I discovered my passion for the organic food industry in 1976 when I began working at a natural foods co-op in Iowa. With many years in the trade, I have extensive knowledge in international trade, the marketing of organic food and organic industry policy.
Before launching Source Organic, I was Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy and Industry Relations at UNFI and the founding Executive Director of the UNFI Foundation.
Advocating for the organic industry has always been a significant part of my work. I am currently on the board of trustees for The Organic Center.
In addition, I served over a decade on the California Department of Food and Agriculture Organic Products Advisory Committee (COPAC). And for nine years, I was on the board of directors of the Organic Trade Association (OTA).
I also worked as an advisor for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. As a volunteer with the International Executive Service Corps (IESC), I dedicated my expertise to organic agricultural projects in Tunisia and the Dominican Republic.
Through my consultancy, Source Organic, I provide Education, Advocacy and Thought-leadership to the organic community.
The Organic Matters Blog is where you can find information on the organic industry and my insightful perspective on what’s happening. I also write about my travels, often sharing my experiences with a locale’s unique cuisine.
